« Inside Dorian Gray‘s Head » – 2020
for Ensemble Reconsil
« Inside Dorian Gray‘s Head » is inspired by the main character of the well known Oscar Wilde’s novel « The Portrait of Dorian Gray ». In the Wilde’s text we find insights into some of the most timeless dimensions of the human character, embodied in the Dorian Gray’s passions: the narcissistic perversion and the desire for eternal youth.
Dorian’s life evolved between sensual-ism and disillusioned contemplation of elapsing time. His moral weakness leaded him to downfall.
In 2017, Mariana Ungureanu wrote an opera based on the Oscar Wilde’s novel.
« Inside Dorian Gray’s Head » (2020) is a dark psychological drama for video, electronics and eight instruments playing live. It is a condensed reflection on Dorian Gray’s psychology.
